Summary: “Liturgische Zeitschrift” was a liturgical journal for the advancement of synagogue music. It contained scores and scholarly criticism about synagogue music. The criticism was later discontinued with volume 3, part 7 as the journal focused on publishing scores. The journal's publisher, Hermann Ehrlich, was an instructor and cantor in Meiningen. Each issue contains text and music numbered separately; numbering of text consecutive. Edited by Hermann Ehrlich.

Additional Publication Information: Each issue contains text and music numbered seperately ; numbering of text consecutive. According to the Freimann catalog, p. 21 (Freimann, Aron. Katalog der Judaica und Hebraica. Erster Band: Judaica. Frankfurt am Main: Lehrberger & Co., 1932) a separate “Teil 2” was published under the title "Festgesänge der Israeliten oder vollständiger Jahrgang aller Chorgesänge und Recitative." The only copy listed worldwide is located at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America; it has indeed this title page but actually contains the 19 "Hefte" which were previously published as “Band 2” and “Band 3” of “Teil 1”. Since there are currently no other known holdings of this periodical, we assume “Band 2” and “Band 3” of “Teil 1” were republished as “Teil 2” at one point.
